a month and a bit later
It’s been a month and a bit since I soft launched the website and it’s been a time of more learning. Which is something I really appreciate.
Heads up! I made my first dollar! I had my first order of Original Lactation Cookies come up 2 days after the official launch on September 21, 2018. I was very excited to receive the order and then deliver the order to the mom of a newborn only days old. I love fresh new babies!
In the sales department, I’ve been pushing myself by contacting and dropping off cookie samples to midwife offices. Also, I’ve been bringing cookies and broths to friends and new parents to get feedback on how to make them better and if the containers work for them. So far the mason jars are good for cookies and stainless steel insulated thermoses are ideal for keeping broths hot for new parents.
There’s a lot of the use of ‘I’ here and that’s because this business is just me right now. Karima and Emily provide expert consultation that makes this company possible and I have so much gratitude that we are working together. However, I’m doing all the baking and all the sales. It’s the usual business startup stuff and I’m not the first and certainly not the last to do so.
I am also focused on working with the Aboriginal Mothers Centre Society on how I can continue to center them in my business. We have a meeting coming up and I’ll report back afterwards. Another opportunity for me to learn.
Thank you all for following along with my journey.
